Lime Crime!

Thanks to Xenia from Lime Crime, I had the opportunity to try out a few of the shades from her recently released Lime Crime make up line! The colours I chose were Mermaid, Dragon Scales, Nymph and Jinx glitter, because I love everything blue-green, and of course I couldn't resist to try out at least one glitter! The shadow texture is one of the best I've seen in mineral make-up - they are all very pigmented (especially Mermaid), soft and blendable! I am looking forward to seeing her expand her selection of shadows and especially glitters!

Snow!

This morning, we woke up to the first snow of this winter -not too much, but enough to cover the trees and houses with a thin layer of white. I just love the lighting when everything is snowy outside (because the light is all diffuse due to the snow's reflection) so DH and I went to the park in front of the house and took some wintery pics!

The make-up is rather subdued, I used Warm Chill on the lid, Dungeon in crease and Heart of Gold to blend the two together, and some additional Dungeon in the inner crease to give some more dimension. Lashes are au naturel today, and for the wintery reddish cheeks I used some Hipness blush applied with the MAC #187.

New Year's Eve

Happy new year to all my readers! I hope you all had a wonderful party last night? As New Year's Eve is always a perfect occasion for glitter overload, here's what I did yesterday:

I applied Heritage Rouge pigment all over my lid and added some Mauvement in the crease and Vanilla under my brows. Then I added some black liner and applied a line of pink/red glitter (Raspberry Ice by Pure Luxe) along the line. On the lower lid, I used Heritage Rouge and Mauvement as well as black kohl on the waterline, and then added some red and silver glitter underneath the eyes:

Happy Holidays!

Hey everyone,

first of all, happy holidays to all of you! I hope everyone is having a wonderful time with family and/or friends! Here is the look I did for Christmas Eve, I wanted something sparkly but not OTT, so I went for this rather simple look: Sahara Glitter all over the lid, Quarry in crease and Vanilla to highlight. I lined my top lids with my faithful Manhattan japanese ink liner, and glued on Ardell lashes #116 on top with transparent Duo glue:

Dark Christmas Look

This week's look is practically the opposite of last week's which was all about white-and-silver-winter-fairy - still festive, but darker and a little more edgy (but not too much. I'm just not THAT edgy!). It was inspired by a random pic in a fashion magazine I came across, and I wanted to do something to match the black hair ribbons and gloves I bought at SIX (the only problem is that the gloves are just a little too large for my hands, but whatever....).

The look employs a new technique for me, so I'll try to give a more detailed description of what I did. The first thing after priming my eyelids was to draw the black lines all along my upper and lower eyelids with a black kohl, so I knew where the other colours had to be placed afterwards. Then I applied Your Ladyship pigment under the line, and Fyrinnae Tapir over the black line up to my crease, then adding some MAC Carbon to blend the kohl line into Tapir. Above Tapir I applied some Heart of Gold with MAC's #219, and as before, used Lenticular to blend Tapir and Heart of Gold together. Some more Your Ladyship was applied in the inner and outer corners, and I added both Tapir and Lenticular below the lower liner very small brush:

I hope my description was good enough - as always, if you have questions, just comment and ask!

And in case you're wondering why my pics look a little different: the face shots are courtesy of the DH and were taken with my sister's Canon EOS 400D and a 100mm portrait lens which is *awesome*!

Snow Princess

As Christmas is approaching quickly, I felt like doing a wintery look this weekend! We've already had a bit of snow which is quite unusual for this time of year - and I had just dug out this adorable white faux fur scarf, which inspired me to do something really icy

I used Platinum pigment on the lid, Azreal Blue in the crease and Kitschmas up until just under the brow bone to create a little "wintery" rainbow. To apply the glitter, I used my favourite "glue": You+Eye Fixing Gel (I had misplaced this a few weeks ago and just found it again. Yay!). I like this better actually than MAC Mixing Medium Eyeliner, because it's stickier and really makes the glitter stay in place - which is important especially if you use large glitter particles which should NOT get into your eyes! To line, I used catrice liquid liner in Metallic Black both on the lower and the upper lid (with two tails), and finished the whole look with mascara and white eye kohl on the waterline.
