LIPSTICKS CURRENTLY ON ROTATION #2

best-lipsticks
best-lipsticks-for-autumn

I've been swapping my summer brights for darker, richer and berry shades ready for autumn. These are the products that are currently on rotation in my make up bag:

Revlon Wild Orchid: I've mentioned this product quite a lot and it also featured in my last monthly favourites. It's such a pretty fuchsia pink with a subtle purple/blue sheen and I've been reaching for it almost on a daily basis.

Revlon Lip Butter in Berry Smoothie: This is a perfect everyday natural autumn colour as it gives a hint of berry to your lips. This lip butter gives a slightly glossy finish and has a very fine fuchsia shimmer running through it. I love to keep this in my bag for quick and easy application on the go and for subtle berry lips.

Chanel La Diva: The perfect lipstick to brighten up a rainy day and the colour I've been reaching for to lift a cosy day outfit as it looks so great with a cosy grey jumper, leggings and a high pony!

MAC Brave: This is another great everyday, my lips but better colour. It's a lovely mauve pink MAC satin lipstick that lasts well on my lips. It can be a bit drying so I always need to put on lip balm before applying this lipstick.

Maxfactor colour elixir lipgloss in captivating ruby: I really love this lipgloss, it doesn't feel sticky at all on my lips, is long lasting and can be worn either with one coat as a hint of cherry on the lips or built up to a strong blue toned ruby red.

CHANEL LA DIVA LIPSTICK

Chanel Lipstick

Chanel La Diva
Chanel La Diva swatch

My first Chanel.

The perfect cure for a gloomy rainy day, this matte shocking pink lipstick is by far the prettiest lipstick I own. The Chanel packaging is lovely and something that I can keep on display and treasure.

This cool, flamingo pink colour is great to wear either with a cosy grey jumper, black leggings and hair thrown up into a ponytail or paired with a lbd for an evening out. Being matte on the lips means that although it's bright, it's still very wearable.

This lasted a good 5-6 hours on my lips and when it faded it left a pretty pink stain. I'm really impressed with the formulation, it felt creamy on my lips and lasted a lot longer than lipsticks normally do on me.

I have my eye on a red next, when I've saved up enough boots points. Any suggestions?

COOL TONED PINK LIPSTICKS

Top left - Revlon Showy, Top right Maybelline Fuchsia Flash,
Bottom left - Revlon Sultry Samba, Bottom right Chanel La Diva

This is my favourite shade of pink lipstick, you can see in the swatches there are subtle differences between the shades on my lips but they are all cool toned fuchsia/magenta pink.

Revlon Showy is a matte cool toned pink, you need to prep your lips well before applying this as it shows up any imperfections/dryness. This lasts around 2-3 hours on my lips and is the lightest colour of the bunch.

Maybelline Fuchsia Flash is a bright fuchsia pink. It has a lovely creamy texture, feels hydrating and lasts well on the lips. I like to dab a bit on the middle of my lips and blend out to make it a bit more subtle as this is the only lipstick of the lot that isn't matte.

Revlon Sultry Samba is a slight shade darker and contains more purple than the rest, it is quite sheer when swatched making it more subtle but is buildable to a pretty matte pink/fuchsia. This is my second favourite of the bunch, it lasted well on my lips and is great for an everyday lipstick.

Chanel La Diva - My favourite. The perfect shade and formula, this lasted 5-6 hours on my lips and when it started to fade it left a pretty pink stain on my lips. I find brighter lipstick shades are easier to wear when matte, it seems to tone down the look and feels pretty and chic.

Rachel Bilson in California Style Magazine

Chanel dress, belt and necklace.

My style inspiration and celebrity obsession Rachel Bilson was featuredon the cover of the March 2011 issue of California Style magazine. She looksabsolutely stunning in the various drool-worthy gowns she wears in thegorgeous photoshoot.

The magazine article covers a variety of topics – here are a fewsnippets of what she had to say:

Referring to her Edie Rose dinnerware: “To stick with fashion, thatwould be a little bit more predictable. But there’s no one in my demographic,or really any ‘celebrity’ who has a similar aesthetic as me, who’s doing homeor tabletop design. I’m sort of obsessed with dishes. I’m always cooking andbaking at home, and I hate going out. I’d love to do bedding, too.”

Referring to her relationship withex-fiance HaydenChristensen: “Without saying anythingtoo specific, I can tell you that things are really positive right now. We’lljust have to see how it goes.”

Referring to working with Josh Schwartz (creator ofthe O.C.) again: “Josh knows me so well. I mean,he’s married to my best friend. We’re all very close. He knows how I deliver aline. He knows that I can be, you know, funny. It’s much harder to be funnythan it is to act in a drama. But I’m up for it.”

Versace dress. Van Cleef & Arpels earrings.

Dolce & Gabbana blouse and skirt.

Valentino gown (reminds me of Emma Watson's BAFTA gown).

Ralph Lauren Collection dress.

ChloƩ dress. Cathy Waterman necklace.

Oscar de la Renta dress. Cathy Waterman earrings.

My Christmas Wishlist

My Christmas Wishlist by ambitiousdreams featuring coach shoulder bags
It’s that time of year again when people start asking you what you want for Christmas. Of course, we’d all love it if our loved ones could read our minds and surprise us with exactly what we wanted, but since they’re not Sookie Stackhouse, that is not the case.

When my friends ask me what I want for Christmas, I usually tell them that I’m pretty easy to shop and buy gifts for because I have so many interests. You can either go the fashion and girly route or the geeky and fangirl route. For my dad, on the other hand, I have to give him a detailed list that includes all the links for where he can purchase the items – or else, no presents. Now just for funzies, I put together my own little Wishlist of must-have items.

1)    All-Over Lace Strapless Dress (Express, $98) – Count on Express to have the perfect winter party dress! So cute and SO on trend! I also love the Sequin and Chiffon dress.
2)    Fullmetal Alchemist Manga Series (amazon, $10 a book) – FMA: Brotherhood is my current anime obsession! What an engaging, complex story with such interesting and strong characters (Roy Mustang is such a BA)! I’m ready to relive all that awesomeness from the original source, the manga.
3)    Chanel Quilted Union Jack Purse (Chanel, $1295) – I remember when I held this purse at the Chanel store on Rodeo Drive. I was in love and didn’t want to give it back to the salesman. I’m obsessed with union jacks and if I were to ever splurge on a purse, this would be it. Of couse, unless there’s a fashion genie who’ll grant me three wishes, there’s no possible way I’m ever going to get this, but, hey, this *is* a WISHlist. And while I’m at, why don’t I just add Rachel Bilson’s wardrobe and Ian Somerhalder to the list?
4)    The Sims 3 Late Night Expansion Pack (amazon, $30) – Who doesn’t love the Sims? I’ve played this game for DAYS without ever leaving my house. True story. Sure, it’s a little obsessive, but you definitely get your money’s worth. I have every single one of the expansion packs for both 1 and 2, but have fallen behind on 3. I’m sure that will change though.
5)    Supernatural Season 5 on Blu-Ray (amazon, $54) – One of my all-time favorite shows! Excellent writing, interesting mythology, killer soundtrack, two hot guys – what more could you ask for? And, even with all the eye candy, it really is a show guys love too. My boyfriend loved the series so much, he blew right past the first four seasons within a week.
6)    Coach Poppy Disco Bag in gold (Coach, $148) – If you’ve read my previous blog post, you’ll know that I’m currently obsessing over sequins. Hence, when I saw this bag, I instantly fell in love it. When I saw that Rachel Bilson had previously picked it as one of three Coach bags to whose profits would help benefit a children’s charity, it became a must-have.
7)    Holly GoNightly Sleeping Mask (fredflare, $14) – Breakfast at Tiffany’s is one of my favorite movies and this sleep mask is just too cute!
8)    Candie’s Zebra-print Call Me Peep-Toe Heels (Kohl’s, $60) – I’m obsessed with Candie’s shoes, zebra stripes, and bows, and this shoe combines all three! So cute, and I can totally see myself adding these to a wide array of outfits. Definite must-have.
9)    Taylor Swift’s Speak Now CD (Amazon, $13) - I know every word of every song to Taylor’s last two cds. There’s not many artists I can say that about. Despite being one of the most famous celebrities on the planet, Taylor somehow manages to write some of the most relatable and personal songs for girls. I feel like I smile, cry, laugh, and regret with her on every cd. So how is it I’ve yet to pick up her latest cd??! I blame school and my crazy life, but this is something that needs to be remedied by Christmas.
10) Victoria’s Secret Pink Reversible Comforter (Victoria’s Secret, $99)– My current comforter is from the last VSPink bed set and I love it, I really do, but it’s time for something new. Fortunately, the new comforter from Pink is super cute and would look amazing in my room!

Now it's your turn! Comment and let me know what's on your list this Christmas! :)
