SUMMER HIGHLIGHTERS

best-highlighter

I tend to wear gold, bronze and peach shimmery highlighters throughout summer and these have been my favourites to wear this year. My favourite highlighter brushes to use are the Real Techniques setting brush and Royal & Langnickle fan brush

The Body Shop baked to last bronzer in warm glow - I originally bought this body shop bronzer as it reminded me of the limited edition Mac mineralized skin finishes, its a pretty light bronze with pink and gold tones running through it. Although it's marketed as a bronzer, I swirl my brush in the golden pink tones and apply to the tops of my cheeks and it gives such a pretty warm summery glow.

Topshop Highlighter in Sunbeam - I love Topshop make up, especially their highlighters. There's something quite ethereal about the colours, they give such an amazing glow and they are so pigmented, iridescent and long lasting. Topshop sunbeam is such a pretty gold highlighter that makes the skin look radiant and glowing.

Mac eyeshadow in Gleam - This lustre finish eyeshadow disappointed me when I wore it on my lids, the colour payoff wasn't great and it just left glitter particles on my eyes. It's such a pretty colour that I really wanted to make it work and so I tried using it as a highlighter instead. I've been loving using this mac eyeshadow as a golden peachy pink highlighter, it really brightens up my face giving me radiance and a lovely shimmery glow.

What have been your favourite highlighters to wear this summer?

Sunshine, Daisies...

With S/S just around the corner now, I thought I would do a Make up look based on a few of the SS2013 trends. I've mixed some of the main trends (Matte skin, Matte pink lips, Bright or Metallic eyes and fluttery lashes) and adapted them to make them more wearable. Pink Matte lips and Matte skin play a big part in the S/S 2013 Make up trends.

I used Rimmel Match perfection foundation as a base and Rimmel stay Matte Powder all over my T-zone to give me the Matte effect. I love dewy skin so left my cheeks slightly glowy using Topshop highligter in sunbeam.
I used Maybelline colour tattoo Eternal gold on my eyes, it's so quick and simple to use and gives a really lovely effect that lasts all day. Great for hot summer days, I wore this a lot last summer and it didn't budge in the heat!
I used Topshop Cream Blusher in Flush to give a peachy pink flush of colour to my cheeks and Ardnell Demi Wispi's lashes to give me a fluttery lash effect.
I didn't want my lips to be too matte so I used Revlon lip butters in lollipop and sweet tart mixed together to give me a bight pink lip colour. I also dabbed a small amount of the sunbeam highlighter in the middle of my lips.

To wear this look for the day, I would loose the false lashes and just apply a small amount of sweet tart on my lips, its best to blend in with your finger to give a more natural lip. I really like this look and will definitely be wearing it this spring!

I am absolutely in love with Topshops make up, especially their blushes, lipsticks and highlighters.

I actually went into Topshop to see if I could stock up on 'Glow' which was a lovely highlighter from their smoke and mirrors A/W collection. Glow is hands down my favourite highlighter so I was soo disapointed when it wasn't there anymore!
I was drawn to the packaging on this, and as I wanted a new highlighter I swatched it in Topshop to see what the colour was like. I normally go for cream highlighters however this blends really well and is Such a gorgeous golden highlighter which would be so suited for summer!

Sunbeam is £9 which I think is quite reasonable for the amount you get, the photos don't do it much justice so if you can, swatch and blend it into the back of your hand in topshop - its soo pretty! x
