AUTUMN/WINTER MAKE UP TRENDS

 photo autumn-winter-makeup-trends_zps862a854f.jpg

As mentioned in my Spring/Summer make up trends post, I love to see the make up that is on trend and then try to incorporate a more wearable version into my make up routine. Some of the trends are going to be perfect for the festive season and I've been really enjoying wearing them throughout autumn.

Ethereal Gold & Silver metallics: A metallic eye with golds, silvers and winged liner was the focus of the Chanel A/W 2014 look and a strip of silver liner was applied in Dior to the upper lids. I think that shimmery gold or silver eyeshadows look great applied lightly all over the lids and then blended out before adding winged liner. I love the Maybelline colour tattoo in eternal gold and eternal silver as they are easy to apply with your finger as a base or as a subtle shimmer to the eyes, they blend out really easily and add a festive touch to your make up. They also look pretty blended under the eye.

Berry stained lips: Although eyes and skin were the main focus in A/W 2014 make up, berry stained lips also featured. MAC rebel is perfect for this look as you can pat the colour onto your lips and then blend in with your finger. This gives a pretty, stained effect that lasts ages on the lips.

Contouring and highlighting: Skin was cleverly contoured and sculpted to give an almost mannequin effect to the skin on the catwalk. The Sleek Face Contour Kit* is perfect to lightly sculpt and contour your face for everyday make up. The contour side is matte and the perfect shade of brown which isn't muddy or orange. Both the contour and highlighter are pigmented and easy to blend, you only need a small amount of product to really make your cheekbones stand out.

Metallic Olive greens: Pat McGrath created a stunning make up look for Dior using liquid latex with pigment pressed on top in blue or green. Natural Collection eyeshadow in Moss Shimmer is a beautiful shimmery olive green with slightly golden tones which looks beautiful blended all over and under the eye. You can see me wearing this look here.

Long lashes: Eyelure have some top and bottom lashes which are great to wear for this look or layering up on your favourite mascara (Mine is still the L'Oreal Miss Manga mascara) will give you a more natural, fluttery long lashes look.

SPRING/SUMMER MAKE UP TRENDS

spring-summer-makeup-trends

I love researching and adapting the latest make up trends to try and make them a bit more wearable, these are some of my favourite S/S 2014 Make up trends:

1. False lashes top and bottom - I love having fluttery, long lashes. Top and bottom false lashes on a day to day basis aren't always practical or that comfortable and so I've been wearing L'oreal Miss Manga mascara layered up on both my top and bottom lashes.

2. Aqua blue eyes - Blue liner in the waterline can look really pretty, especially paired with a peach/gold eyeshadow. I've been wearing the Barry M kohl pencil in 19 kingfisher blue. See my version of this look here.

3. Lavender - Lilac and lavender are really in this season, Natural collection eyeshadow in lilac shimmer is a really pretty soft lavender colour that looks subtle on the lids and really brings out brown eyes. I wear this either all over my eyelids or smudged under my lower lashes.

4. Graphic eyeliner - Adding angular lines and straight flicks to your winged liner can help to create a more wearable version of this look, I've been using the collection fast stroke liquid liner and straightening the edges to my winged liner to give it a sharp, angled look.

5. Bold orange lips - For bright, matte lips as seen in New york fashion week, Revlon color burst matte balm crayon in Audacious is the perfect bold, bright orange.

JUNE'S GREEN FAVOURITES

green-make-up

I've been loving these green coloured products throughout June, I can't believe it's been 6 months of colour favourites already!

Pixi mesmerising mineral palette in Emerald Gold* - I've been reaching for this pretty gemstone palette a lot this month, the colours are so pretty and I've been loving wearing the shimmery gold blended all over the eye with the mint green in the inner corners!

Origins Dr weil mega bright dark circle minimiser eye cream - This is a lovely thick eye cream which is light infusing and targets the cause of dark circles whilst firming the eye area. I haven't been sleeping properly in this heat and this has really helps to cover up my dark circles!

Bdellium tools 716 Smoky eyeliner brush - This is one of the softest brushes I've ever felt. It's perfect for inner corner highlighter or for smudging out eyeliner.

Origins Drink up intensive overnight mask - Even in the summer my skin is quite dehydrated. This really helps to hydrate my skin and to leave it feeling plump, smooth and moisturised. I only use a very small amount of the mask during summer - less than a pea size (in winter I use more!), as it's very thick but it really helps to keep my skin hydrated.

Natural collection moss shimmer - Supposedly a dupe for Mac's sumptuous olive, this is a beautiful olive golden eyeshadow. I love wearing it with the a gold blended into the first inner quarter of the eye. See the look here.

Caudalie beauty elixir - This has been my saviour this month as its so perfect to use in the heat. Just a few spitzes and this leaves your skin feeling cooler whilst smoothing the skin and giving it a burst of radiance. It contains orange blossom, organic balm mint (so refreshing!), rosemary, grape and rose.

I've also been listening to and absolutely loving Ed Sheerans new album 'Multiply' this month!

Olive Green and gold smokey eye

I've always wanted MAC's sumptuous olive but after reading that the natural collection from boots have a good dupe for only £1.79, I picked it up straight away and tested it out. Natural collection Moss Shimmer is a lovely golden olive colour, I don't have sumptuous olive to compare them but they certainly look similar from swatches I've seen online.

This looks great swept all over and under the eye with a gold (I used Half baked from the Naked 1 palette) blended into the inner corner of the eye. I wore this with liquid liner and then kept the blush and lips quite subtle with pale pinks.

I took over 100 photos of this look and wasn't happy with how any of them turned out so sorry the photos above aren't great! If you have a chance I would definitely suggest swatching shimmering moss as it is such a lovely colour.

White Opal - Lilac shimmer - Sky
Natural collection from boots is a really affordable, good quality Make up brand. These eyeshadows were only £1.99 each and as you can hopefully see from the swatches, they are well pigmented and such pretty colours!

If I want to do a Make up look, It can get a bit much each time splashing out on a new MAC eyeshadow that I wouldn't normally wear, I think these are a great resolution as there
are lots of colours to choose from and for £1.99, you can't really go wrong!

The only downside to these eyeshadows is the packaging, its very plasticy and cheap feeling, but then considering the value of the eyeshadow and the fact that the quality is so good, then I think the packaging doesn't really matter that much!

Have you tried these?
