TRANSITIONAL LIPSTICKS

I'm not quite ready for spring peaches and pinks yet, or to let go of plums, berries and reds but I have slowly started to add a few brighter tones to my lipsticks ready for spring.

I love wearing berry shades throughout winter and Revlon Balm Stain in Crush is great to wear as a pretty stain on your lips. I like dab a small amount of this on before rubbing it in with my finger to leave a subtle stain. This way it lets me hold on to berry shades without it looking too bold and autumnal.

I'm still reaching for wintry reds and I think L'Oreal Color Riche Exclusives Lipstick in Blake will continue to make an appearance on my lips all throughout the year as I love it so much. This lipstick is a flattering matte pure red that contains jojoba oil to keep lips feeling soft, it works so well with shimmery brown lids and lasts well on the lips.

Bright fuchsia pinks are slowly creeping their way back into my make up bag, Revlon Lip Butter in Lollipop and Revlon Balm Stain in Lovesick are great for brightening the gloomy winter days and for transitioning into spring. Revlon Lip Butter in Lollipop is a bright fuchsia pink and Revlon Balm Stain in Lovesick is a slightly softer pink with a hint of purple.

Lastly I've been gravitating towards softer pinks and MAC Please Me has been the perfect muted pink for the transition into spring. It's great to wear as a girly matte pink when you want to wear a bolder eye look.

FAIL SAFE BEAUTY PRODUCTS: EYES AND LIPS

best-beauty-products

I love finding products that always deliver great results and make me feel good when I use them. I can always count on these products to work for me, whether it's to brighten up a gloomy day, soften my lips or brighten up my eyes!

MAC Eye Kohl in Powersurge: This golden, shimmery antique bronze eyeliner is perfect smudged under the lower lash line. It glides on so easily and really brings out your eyes. This really is a lovely eye pencil for everyday wear especially throughout autumn.

Nars Eyeshadow Duo in Alhambra: This rose, golden duo gives a beautiful sheen of colour to your eyes. It really brightens the eye area bringing light and a pretty glow. For a full review and swatches click here.

Lush Mint Julips lip scrub: The smell of mint chocolate and the promise of smooth lips makes me so excited to use this as the months get colder. This lovely little sugar scrub works so well at buffing away any dry patches on your lips leaving them soft and smooth.

Revlon Just Bitten Balm Stain in Lovesick: To brighten up a gloomy day, I always reach for Revlon Lovesick. This balm stain is a bright pink with a hint of purple that lasts ages on the lips, keeps them feeling moisturised and is so easy for quick application on the go.

LIP CRAYONS

crayon-lipstick

Lip crayons have been spreading through the brands and with so many to choose from, it's hard to know the difference between them. I love lip crayons, they are perfect for easy application, great to throw in your bag and normally theres a good amount of product in them. I've swatched lots of the lip crayons that are available in boots and superdrug and these are the ones that I own.

You can see from the above photo that the majority of the lip crayons that I own are from Revlon. I'm always impressed by Revlon lip formulations and If I had to choose my favourite highstreet lipstick brand it would be revlon!

I own three Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm stains and three colorburst matte balms, the lip stains are the ones I reach for the most as they are so long lasting on my lips, the colour selection is really pretty and they keep my lips feeling soft and subtle. I love that the Balm stains can be worn sheer or built up to be really pigmented. Both the stains and the matte balms have a light minty taste (which I'm not too fond of).

Revlon Balm Stain in Crush is the darkest crayon colour that I own, a gorgeous berry that is perfect with copper eyes for Autumn. Revlon lovesick is a bright pink with a hint of purple and Revlon Honey is a my lips but better shade, a lovely mauve pink.

All of the Revlon Colorburst Matte balms that I own are all pretty bright. As with most matte lipsticks you need to prep your lips well before application as they do tend to show any dryness. Revlon Showy is a pretty cool toned pink, Revlon Unapologetic a bright warm pink and Revlon Audacious a bright coral orange. I have a more detailed review of the matte balms here

Jelly pong pong lip blush - Cranberry. This is my favourite everyday red and favourite lip crayon formulation that I own. The colour pay off is amazing, it's moisturising and long lasting on the lips. Jelly pong pong also make one other lip blush that looks lovely too, i'm hoping that they haven't discontinued this one as it's a staple in my make up bag.

Laqa and Co in Menatour - Another minty lip balm, I actually prefer this pepperminty smell slightly to the Revlon lip balms. I wouldn't normally brave a purple lip but this is quite a pretty colour and reminds me slightly of MAC Goddess of the Sea lipstick from the alluring aquatic collection.

Clinique Chubby Stick in Woppin Watermelon - I was going to buy this shade until I saw it free in glamour magazine last month. I'm pretty glad I didn't purchase the full size as the colour kind of gets lost on me. It's a really sheer subtle pink thats a bit too light for my lips. I think that it would be great if you wanted to look like you have naturally great lips as it really is very subtle. I might have to swatch a few more in store but at the moment I'm not too convinced.

LIPSTICKS CURRENTLY ON ROTATION

Summer lipsticks
revlon berry allure swatch
L-R Topshop Infrared, Revlon Lovesick, Mac Creme Cup, Revlon Wild Watermelon, Revlon Berry Allure

These are the lipsticks that are currently on rotation in my make up bag, I've been swapping and changing my lip products ready for summer and I'm currently in love with all of these shades.

Topshop Infrared: The perfect orange with a hint of red to it, i've been wearing this with bronzed skin and golden eyeshadows. I love Topshops lipstick's formula, its creamy, lasts a while on my lips and the colour selection is amazing.

Revlon Just bitten kissable balm stain in Lovesick - I've owned this for a while but only until I saw Anna wearing it in her latest vlog have I started actually wearing it. I'm now completely in love with this shade, it looks great with a cosy grey jumper and lots of mascara. It lasts ages on my lips without drying them and then leaves a pretty pink stain.

Mac Creme Cup - I rarely wear nude lipsticks as my lips are quite pigmented and I find they wash me out but this has just enough pink to it to look pretty on the lips and is great to wear for days I go heavier on the eye make up. This is a creamsheen formula so it is creamy and subtle.

Revlon Wild Watermelon - I love revlon lip butters. A hybrid between a lipstick and balm, these are really pigmented, lighter than a lipstick and buildable so really wearable. This is a really pretty pink toned red, almost raspberry colour which is great as a summery red.

Revlon lip gloss Berry Allure - This is one of my favourite lip glosses, it leaves my lips feeling soft, lasts a couple of hours on my lips and is such a pretty berry fuchsia colour. It looks pretty pigmented but on the lips it is quite sheer.
