5 Fandom Friday: The Halloween Candy I Always Hope For

Happy Halloween!!
Also, it's time for 5 Fandom Friday! This week's topic: The Halloween Candy I Always Hope For When Trick-Or-Treating!

(in no particular order)

1. Reese's Peanut Butter Cups
I say in no particular order, but these would probably top the list. I just love how perfectly the peanut butter and chocolate go together and that slightly salty taste to balance out all the sweetness.

2. Almond Joy
I LOVE coconut anything and these were my dad's favorite candy so I always hoped for lots of Almond Joys while trick-or-treating so the two of us could share ^^ Funny enough, however, I actually didn't like the almonds and would always eat around it so Mounds would've been better for me but because of my dad, I have a weird bias for Almond Joy.

3. Airhead Xtreme
I loved Airheads as a kid and my all-time favorite were the sour rainbow strips. Just thinking about them makes my mouth water.

4. Sour Patch
I love how these are both sour and sweet! They also taste great whether they're fresh and soft or a little older and hard which is ideal when you have a lot of Halloween candy to go through.

5. 3 Musketeers
Love the fluffy inside! Some chocolate bars can be a little TOO intense and rich for my taste with all they've got going on inside so I liked these because they just felt lighter while still being so good.

Honorable Mentions: Kit Kats, War Heads, and Twix

I hope you all have a fun and safe Halloween and get all the Halloween candy you always hope for!

What's your favorite candy?

5 Fandom Friday: My Must See List of Halloween TV

I recently came across The Nerdy Girlie's 5 Fandom Friday link up and couldn't wait to jump in on the action so BOOM here I am! This week's topic: My Must See List of Halloween Movies. Of course, my family and I are more TV-oriented people, so instead of movies, I'm going to be listing my Top 5 Must See Halloween TV Episodes! Here we go!

1. Buffy the Vampire Slayer "Halloween" and "Fear Itself"
While I'm a little more biased towards "Halloween" (and most of Season 2 in general), both episodes deserve recognition as the epitome of a Halloween episode done right!

2. Community "Epidemiology"
They had me within the first 10 seconds with George Takei and ABBA. Before the opening theme even played, I knew this was going to be pure genius - and it was.

3. Angel "Life of the Party"
An overall hilarious episode that I only wish Cordy was still around for - my favorite shenanigan? Hands down, drunk Fred and Wes. Too cute.

4. How I Met Your Mother "Slutty Pumpkin"
Such an iconic episode for the series.

5. Friends "The One With the Halloween Party"
Because my family has to watch a Friends episode for every special occasion. Plus, Joey dressed as Chandler, Chandler in a pink bunny costume, and Ross as "Spud-nik."

Honorable Mention: Supernatural "It's the Great Pumpkin, Sam Winchester"

Now I really want to go and watch all of these...xD

What's on your Halloween Must Watch List?

Blog Post + Photo Everyday in May!

So I know I can be quite the sporadic poster - one week I'll be posting every single day, the next I'll post maybe once and it'll just be for a link up. Fail. I'm really trying to curb this habit, believe me, but when you're a twenty-something who's just moved to New York City, it can be a little difficult. Enough with the excuses though, it's a new month and a new start.

May always seems to be a big exciting month of endings and new beginnings. What does that mean exactly? It means that May is (usually) filled with the end of classes, graduations, the start of summer, etc. In my case, it consists of me flying back to Florida to graduate, then going right back up to New York where I'm going to be moving (again) into a new apartment, and starting at least one new part-time job while still job hunting for the right day job. Basically, real life is going to be craaaazy BUT it's also going to provide plenty for me to blog about! I've always prided myself on my time management skills, and this month I'm going to put those skills to the test!

I am challenging myself for the entirety of May to write one blog post AND post one photo on Instagram EACH day (I'm also going to try to churn out at least two Youtube videos a week, but that's another post haha). I am going to using the following prompts each day from Story of My Life and Fat Mum Slim. And don't worry, I'll still have other regular posts and photos as well!

Day 1, Wednesday: The story of your life in 250 words or less (or one paragraph... no one will be counting your words... probably)
Day 2, Thursday:Educate us on something you know alot about or are good at. Take any approach you'd like (serious and educational or funny and sarcastic)
Day 3, Friday: Things that make you uncomfortable
Day 4, Saturday: Favorite quote (from a person, from a book, etc) and why you love it
Day 5, Sunday: Publicly profess your love and devotion for one of your blogger friends. What makes them great? Why do you love them? If you don't have blogger friends, talk about a real-life friend or even a family member
Day 6, Monday: If you couldn't answer with your job, how would you answer the question, 'what do you do'?
Day 7, Tuesday: The thing(s) you're most afraid of
Day 8, Wednesday: A piece of advice you have for others. Anything at all.
Day 9, Thursday: A moment in your day (this can be just a photo or both a photo and words)
Day 10, Friday: Most embarrassing moment (s). Spill.
Day 11, Saturday: Sell yourself in 10 words or less
Day 12, Sunday: What do you miss? (a person, a thing, a place, a time of your life...)
Day 13, Monday: Issue a public apology. This can be as funny or as serious or as creative as you want it to be.
Day 14, Tuesday: Ten things that make you really happy
Day 15, Wednesday: A Day in the life (include photos from throughout your typical day - this could be "a photo an hour" if you'd like)
Day 16, Thursday: Something difficult about your "lot in life" and how you're working to overcome it
Day 17, Friday: A favorite photo of yourself and why
Day 18, Saturday: Tell a story from your childhood. Dig deep and try to be descriptive about what you remember and how you felt.
Day 19, Sunday: Five of your favorite blogs and what you love about them
Day 20, Monday: Get real. Share something you're struggling with right now.
Day 21, Tuesday: A list of links to your favorite posts in your archives
Day 22, Wednesday: Rant about something. Get up on your soapbox and tell us how you really feel. (a pet peeve, a current event, a controversial topic, something your husband or roommate or neighbor or boss does that really ticks you off)
Day 23, Thursday: Things you've learned that school won't teach you
Day 24, Friday: Your top 3 worst traits
Day 25, Saturday: Something someone told you about yourself that you'll never forget (good or bad)
Day 26, Sunday: Something you read online. Leave a link and discuss, if you'd like.
Day 27, Monday: A letter to your readers
    Day 28, Tuesday: Only pictures
Day 29, Wednesday: Five songs or pieces of music that speak to you or bring back memories. Use Grooveshark or YouTube to include them in the post
Day 30, Thursday: React to this term: Letting Go
Day 31, Friday: A vivid memory

Are you doing either of these challenges?

    Sunday Social: Childhood Memories

This week's Sunday Social is all about childhood memories:

    1. Did you sleepwalk as a child? Nope, but I've been told I gnash my teeth - yikes!
    2. Did you ever try to run away or sneak out of your house? I often thought about running away because I didn't have the best relationship with mom. I think I only ever managed to leave the house once though. I wandered around the neighborhood for a bit (which I remember being pretty scared) and then came back because I was hungry haha.
    3. Did you have any imaginary friends? I think I tried a couple times, but could never keep it up. I always had my sister there to play with anyway so there really wasn't a need to have one.
    4. Did you ever go toilet papering? Not as a child...
    5. Did you ever sneak tv shows you weren't allowed to watch? Nope. I was more strict on myself than my parents. No PG-13 movies for me until I was actually 13 (Jurassic Park being the exception).
What are some of your childhood memories?

    Sunday Social

Sunday Social time! Here's this week's bunch of questions:

    1. What is your shopping weakness? I've actually been so proud of myself. Since coming up to NYC, I've really resisted the temptation to shop. The only times I've bought anything that wasn't food, was usually at a boutique sale or a consignment store so I guess you could say I have a shopping weakness for good deals haha xD
    2. What is your food weakness? I have a HUGE weakness for food truck food and bubble tea. If it's on the menu at whatever restaurant I'm at, I WILL order it. I just love those tapioca balls.
    3. What is your go-to movie to watch when nothing is on? Hmmm... I don't really have a go-to movie, but if there's absolutely nothing on, I know I can always count on an old Buffy the Vampire Slayer episode (you can't go wrong with Joss Whedon).
    4. What is your go-to breakfast food? My go-to breakfast consists of a cinnamon raisin bagel with cream cheese, banana, and orange juice.
    5. Do you drink coffee? If so, how do you take it? I prefer tea, but I do enjoy a good iced coffee from time to time.
Can you believe tomorrow is Monday already?

    Sunday Social: Twitter

I feel like I haven't done one of these in a while! This week's theme is all about our favorite (or at least mine) social media outlet, Twitter!

    1. When did you join Twitter? April 24, 2009 - found that out thanks to http://www.howlonghaveyoubeentweeting.com. Can't believe it's been 4 years and so many of my friends STILL refuse to get a Twitter account.
    2. Who is your favorite non-celeb to follow? I'm most interested in the tweets of my closest friends, but I also really like following other bloggers and YouTubers and interacting with them.
    3. Who is your favorite celeb to follow? I have two: Zachary Levi because just about everything he tweets is gold, and gets me into a RT'ing frenzy; and Mindy Kaling because I'm kind of obsessed with her...oh, and her Instagram is great too.
    4. Have you ever had a celeb respond to a tweet? Only Youtube celebrities haha xD I was most excited by a favorite and then reply from @essiebutton - love her!
    5. What is your favorite store/brand to follow? I can't think of one off the top of my head, but I love it when brands give you special discount codes for following them and interact with their followers. Makes me feel loved haha.
    6. Give us three tweeps we should be following. @fsufashiongirl, @abbsycupoftea, and @melissarosson. Do it.

    Follow me at @siriusambition!

    Weekend Shenanigans

Hey guys, I meant to post this on Monday but life got in the way >.< (don't you hate it when that happens?). This weekend was actually quite eventful, and I'm now kicking myself for not taking pictures to share with you guys. So beware: lack of pictures of lots of text ahead haha xD

Let's start off with Friday night since I can't remember what I did in the morning besides pick up my laundry and run a couple other errands. I was really excited about going out that night. My roommate, Janice, had a friend in town as did my cousin (who lives about a 10 minute walk from me yet I hadn't seen in over a month) so I was excited at the prospect of meeting new people and having fun in a big group. We didn't really have any structured plans, but we figured we would see where the night would take us. We started off the night at a bar called Bua where I got the very Foursquare-recommended drink, Red Lemonade. Unfortunately, I think there was a little bit too much lemon and too little red. It was not the fruity strawberry lemonade drink I was imagining. Oh well. I stuck with various dark ales and ciders the rest of the evening. Then we moved to a larger bar called Spitzer's. Afterwards, we were feeling a little hungry so we headed to a tiny (there's literally three stools inside) late night taco shop called Snack Dragon. All their tacos come on blue tortilla shells like the Carne Asada taco I ordered below. Quite tasty, but maybe just a dollar or two overpriced at $4-7 a taco. What can I say, blame it on Taco Bell, but I'm a cheapskate when it comes to tacos xD Our last destination was a super crowded bar that played non-stop hip hop music. Not really my scene, but we were all getting tired anyway so we didn't stay too long before going home for the night.

The Carne Asada: marinated steak, black beans, homemade salsa, cheese, sour cream and cilantro
Saturday, I started off my day with breakfast with my roomie, John, at a little diner called Coffee Shop Diner (creative, isn't it?) that was actually featured in an episode of Louie. Afterwards, we both did some spring cleaning around the apartment during which time my cousin came over and dropped off a package that my dad had sent me from home. It contained homemade oatmeal raisin cookies (so yummy!), boxes of Kraft Mac n' Cheese, 2 containers of pepper spray, and a mini can of spaghetti-os (random but so cute!). John and I got an hour in at the gym before it closed then grabbed some food at Sushi Lounge before parting ways for the night.

stillbeingmollyI met up with my friend Chandra at an Irish tavern not too far from my apartment. Her roommate, Jackie's, friend's friend (I hope that make sense) was celebrating his birthday with a bunch of guys from the NYU hockey team. I felt like the old lady of the group (in the best way) as I sipped on a Guinness and watched with amusement as weirdness unfolded around me. It was one of the those bizarre nights that ends with you walking home at 6am after visiting a McDonald's where you and your one friend order 40 chicken McNuggets and you end your no-fast-food streak while drunk Canadian tourists wave a stack of twenties in your friend's face and she convinces them she has no name and that you are only 16 years old. I was also called a young Jennifer Lopez and a young Selena Gomez - even though I'm order than her...but I'll take it. And the kicker - I only had two beers the whole night! Oh, shenanigans indeed xD

Wearing my new Urban Outfitters crop top that I scored for $5 at Buffalo Exchange.
After two nights out, Sunday was pretty low-key aka I spent most of my day watching Law and Order: SVU on Netflix. Oh, wait, I did do grocery shopping. See, I was productive :D

    How was your weekend?

    Me, Myself, and I

    1. Do you celebrate Saint Patrick's Day? How?
Despite being 23 years old, my celebrations of St. Patrick's Day have only consisted in me wearing green. While I still have yet to celebrate on the actual day (in the past I've always had an exam or work and this year, I was just tired), I DID do an afternoon pub crawl the day before. I went to an Irish whiskey tasting right beforehand so by the time it hit 4pm, I seriously thought it was already 4am (not joking). Needless to say, my day ended pretty early and I got to spend the actual St. Paddy's Day recuperating by watching old seasons of The Office on Netflix.

With my amazing friend, Chandra. We're at a bar where you get a free personal pizza with every beer you buy!

    2. It's March which means spring break! We want to know how your spring break went or if it hasn't happened yet, what will your spring break consist of?
No Spring Break for me anymore :( Just another normal work week.

    3. A Zombie Apocalypse happens and you're stripped of all your luxury items. What beauty product would you miss the most?
    Hmmm...Probably foundation - what can I say? I like having even-looking skin.

    4. What is the one cause that you feel most passionate about?
I'm particularly passionate about anything having to do with helping animals or ending MS (my dad has it :().

    5. What's the #1 most played song on your ipod?
My music collection is only a shadow of what it used to be ever since I got a new laptop over a year ago. I went from thousands of songs to only a couple hundred. I simply just don't have the time or energy anymore to build my collection back up. My most played song then with probably hundreds of play was probably some Disney song but as my iTunes currently stands, my top song is Fun.'s "We Are Young." Doesn't surprise me at all.

    First Things First

This week, I discovered a cute new link up called "First Things First" brought to you by Halie. Each week, you are given three "firsts" topics to write about. This week's topics are:

    1. First speeding ticket or traffic accident
    2. First BIG accomplishment you're proud of
    3. First thing you usually reach for in the fridge

    1. First speeding ticket or traffic accident
With my driving record (I'm a horrible driver, just look at all the dents in my poor car as proof), you'd probably be surprised to learn that I actually didn't get my first speeding ticket until this very last winter break. I was coming back home early in the morning after staying over at a friend's house. There weren't very many cars, if any, on the road and I was still a little tired so I let my car glide (is that the right word?) as I went down this bridge - a bridge that is notorious for being always being staked out by ticket-happy cops. It didn't seem like I was speeding at all - but apparently I was going 10 over when the cop pulled me over  -__- He was a little touchy with me, especially when he saw my registration was outdated...but luckily, and, yes, I'm just remembering this now - he didn't give me a speeding ticket at all and simply told me to update my registration or there would be a big fine. Thank goodness, all I ended up paying was about $10 after I updated it. So what does that mean? That means I'm still speeding ticket free! Woot!

I guess I might as well write up something quick about my first traffic accident to make up for my lack of an actual first speeding ticket story. Don't worry, I'll make it quick! I was 16 and it was sometime early in my senior year - I was driving to class down the one veryyyy long road into the city. At one point, I saw ahead what looked like a car was turning. I slowed down but  not enough to stop thinking that by the time I reached it, it would have turned into its destination. Apparently, it was not turning but instead was at a complete stop along with another car ahead of it. I did not realize this in time and ended up hitting it with my slowing down, but still very much moving car. Before I knew it it, everything was happening very fast. It wasn't a big collision at all. The van I hit didn't have a scratch (talk about a safe vehicle!). Mine, on the other hand - or at least the front of it, was a wreck from the tap. My airbags deployed hitting me really hard in the face giving me whiplash and my car filled with smoke. The guy I hit was very nice and concerned and a doctor to boot and called an ambulance, to be safe. They were worried about my neck and put this very stiff brace around it then transported me to a hospital. Probably overkill looking back now, but I just recall being in so much shock that day. I do look back and realize how lucky I was though because it could've been so much worse.

    2. First BIG accomplishment you're proud of
There's probably something else that precedes it, but I'm blanking so I'm going to say my move to New York! I've always clung to my family and find it really hard to be away from them. It was difficult enough for me to leave them to move to Tallahassee for college, but leaving them to go to the other end of the country? I wasn't sure if I could do it. Two months later I admit I still feel homesick (and I consider both Tallahassee and Melbourne my home now) at times, especially when my dad sends me pictures of my cat and food he's baked or when my friends post their weekend plans on Facebook. However, I know what I did was the right thing to do for myself and my career path. Hopefully, it pays off!

    3. First thing you usually reach for in the fridge
Hmm...probably some kind of fruit or vegetable to snack on like an apple or bag of grapes or baby carrots. I love these because there's no preparation involved and they don't leave me feeling guilty for snacking. Perfect!

    What were your firsts?

Blog Hop: What's In My Makeup Bag?

Doing my first "Blog Hop" and the theme is "What's In My Makeup Bag?" Luckily, I just modeled in a fashion show where I did my own makeup this past weekend so I already had a makeup bag filled and ready for this post. The only addition is the NARS Laguna Bronzer I bought today, but I'm sure it'll become a makeup bag staple.

I have a couple of makeup bags, but this is my most recent and current favorite. It's a Forever 21 bag that I got at Dechoes, a secondhand store in Orlando. At about 12" long, I love how roomy it is inside so there's always room to add in extra items like brushes, nail polish, and moisturizer if I want.

MAC Prep + Prime Skin Base Visage - Not my favorite face primer, but I'm trying to use it up so I can get something better.
Covergirl Lash Blast Volume Mascara - Just an all-around good drugstore mascara.
Tweezerman Tweezers - The best tweezers I've ever come across. It's incredible how precise and painless they are.
Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua Foundation - Best foundation ever! I definitely use this more for special occasions (like a fashion show) rather than every day though.
MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Blonde - LOVE this product. It's overtaken NARS Orgasm as my favorite blush.
Maybelline Dream Matte Powder - The perfect setting powder.
Revlon Lip Butters in Gumdrop and Cupcake - Obsessed with these. I probably have 15 or so, these two are probably my favorite shades.
Maybelline Line Stiletto Liquid Eyeliner - I love how quick and easy this stuff is to apply.
Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion - Bad bottle, but great primer.
Bobbi Brown Corrector in Light Bisque - Life. Saver. This stuff is AH-MAZING. Seriously. I have crazy dark circles and this makes them disappear. An everyday must have.
Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer in Porcelain - Works perfectly with the Corrector to brighten my face and hide any blemishes. Best concealer I've come across. And I've tried plenty.
Maybelline Color Tattoo 24 Hour Eyeshadow in Tough as Taupe - Awesome product. I will often use these as a primer.
MAC Tendertone in Hush Hush - So in love with this lip balm. It smells great and keeps my lips oh-so moisturized.
Maybelline Gel Liner in Eggplant Aubergine - The purple color looks amazing with pretty much anything from the Naked2 palette.
Sonia Kashuk Eyeliner Palette - I use these to line my waterline since I prefer to do that with a shadow than a gel or pencil.
Urban Decay Naked2 Palette - Wished there were more matte shadows and less shimmery ones, but still an amazing palette of eyeshadows.
NARS Laguna Bronzer - I already love this new purchase! My previous bronzer was matched to me when I was a lot tanner and doesn't work with the skin tone I have now.

Now that you've seen what's in my makeup bag, what's in yours? The Blog Hop runs until the end of the week so you still have time to jump in at Blog Love Therapy HERE! If you do it, be sure to let me know in the comments so I can check it out!

Also, I'm really enjoying this "Blog Hop" idea so if you know of any others going, feel free to post that in a comment too! =]
