VLOG: My First Day in NYC!

Sorry for my disappearance, everyone! On top of moving to NYC, working 50 hours a week, and sleeping on an unforgiving couch for the past 3 weeks, I also lost someone very close to me as well as my beloved barely 5 month old kitten (both back home) :'( Needless to say, it's been a very difficult month, but I'm doing my best to get things back to normal. Thank you all so much for your patience.

After a month long video absence, I'm back with a pretty unimpressive vlog video lol. This is my first try at blogging and I have to say it's harder than it looks! Also please excuse how horribly boring and low quality it is (I left my camera charger at home so I had to use my iPhone)! I'm still too shy to try vlogging around people so my surroundings are pretty dull and it's literally just me droning about my day lol. Oh well, I tried. Hopefully, better videos will be coming soon!

Sunday Social

Woot! Blog Hop time! I've missed doing these. Today's comes from A Complete Waste of Makeup. Be sure to stop by and join in on the fun! They also have next week's questions posted ahead of time (which I love!).
  1. What is your ideal way to relax: reading or watching Hulu/Netflix
  2. Where is your favorite place to be: in bed or at Tallahassee Midtown with my BFF Colby (oh, how I've missed our Saturday nights)
  3. Who do you consider your biggest role model: Tina Fey, girl can do it all!
  4. What does your life look like in 3 years? Ahh, I have no idea. Hopefully, in NYC living in my own UES apartment with walk-in closet and rocking at my PR job while still blogging and making Youtube videos in my spare time.
  5. If you could go back and change one decision what would it be? I like that I'm a trusting person who always tries to see the good in people, but sometimes I can too trusting and, yes, naive. If you think someone *ahem* your roommate is stealing your money, credit cards, makeup, and clothes, call them out on it STAT and call the cops. Do NOT wait until they steal $7K from you then disappear. This really happened, and I couldn't feel more like an idiot.
  6. What is your biggest accomplishment in life thus far? Probably moving to New York, personally. It was certainly scary and difficult moving so far away from my family, but I know if I really want to be successful in my field of choice, I had to do it.
That's all for this week!

2013 Golden Globes: Best Dressed

I really enjoyed this year's Golden Globes. Tina and Amy were, of course, amazing and probably the best hosting duo I've seen at any awards show. Among some expected wins, I was very happily surprised at some of the outcomes - particularly Quentin Tarantino's Best Screenplay award, Jennifer Lawrence's Best Actress, and Ben Affleck for Best Director. And then there was the fashion. The Golden Globes usually ranks pretty high on my list of favorite red carpet fashion events and I was blown away by last year's looks. While this year didn't quite top 2012, it still held its own with a number of stunning gowns. Biggest surprise here was that, for once, Taylor Swift not only did not top my list but didn't make my Top 10 at all. I still love her, but I was not feeling her eggplant Donna Karan Atelier gown. The back is fantastic, but that high neckline and those glaring visible wrinkles? Not so much. On to those that did get it right:

Claire Danes - Versace

 Kristen Wiig - Michael Kors

 Hayden Panettiere - Roberto Cavalli

Megan Fox - Dolce & Gabbana

 Sophia Vergara - Michael Cinco

 Anne Hathaway - Chanel Couture

Jennifer Garner - Vivienne Westwood Couture

 Lea Michele - Elie Saab

 Amanda Seyfried - Givenchy

Jennifer Lawrence - Dior Couture by Raf Simmons

Outfit of the Night: Sunday Dinner

Hey guys, so I did a second Outfit of the Night video with my best friend, Colby. Sadly, this is our (for now) last video together since I moved to New York City, but I'm sure there will be more in future can't-come-soon-enough reunions!

Colby wore a printed top from Kohl's and blazer from Forever21. Her leggings were, to my surprise actually from Bed Bath & Beyond! I didn't even know they sold clothing there! I guess these go under the "Beyond" category haha. Her boots were borrowed from a friend and she completed her look with her Wet Seal watch, Kohl's necklace, and my Forever21 earrings.

I let my newly purchased BCBGMAXAZRIA leopard-print blazer (isn't it amazingggg???) be the stand-out piece in my ensemble and paired it with a simple black Forever21 cami, black BGBGeneration denim jeans, and black Vince Camuto booties. Accessories were kept to a minimum with just a Forever21 necklace.  Bold red lips added a nice pop of color against all the monochrome.

For our last night together, we decided to go to one of my favorite spots in Tallahassee, 101 Restaurant. I really love the atmosphere there, they have amazing happy hour drink specials, and since it's open till 2am, it's great for a late night bite (especially if you're like me and can't seem to eat dinner between 6-8 like most people). I got my one of my favorite dishes, the Buffalo Chicken Pizza, which (since I'm a sissy when it comes to hot and spicy foods) sets my mouth on fire but yet I still love it, nonetheless. I also got two half-priced drinks: my favorites, the Champagne-tini and Peach Bellini.

What are you guys doing tonight?

Coming Soon: Prabal Gurung for Target

Get excited for February 10th, everyone! Not just because that's when I'm working the Vivienne Tam show during New York Fashion Week (although that is pretty freaking awesome in itself but that's another story), but because that's the day Target rolls out their wallet-friendly 80+ piece collaboration with Prabal Gurung and it is spring-flinging fantastic.

Love the colors. Love the prints. Love the accessories! Yes, besides clothes, the collection also includes shoes, bags, and jewelry as well. For being "romance-themed," I am pleasantly surprised by the lack of pinks/reds and cutesy-ness and the abundance of amazing-ness. I can't even pick which pieces I want to snatch up first, although I know with how cold it is in New York, I probably wouldn't be able to wear any of these until May anyway. Boo. At least it can't stop me when it comes to the accessories - loveeee the crystal teardrop necklace and earrings.

"The collection is inspired by a girl’s journey through the different stages of love and the clothes she wears during each milestone—from the initial first crush all the way to the engagement." - Gurung

"A partnership with Target is one I had always hoped for. They really set the bar for designer collaborations and do a stellar job with each and every one. After having a wonderful experience working with Target on theNeiman Marcus Holiday Collection, it gave me a taste of what the partnership would be like, and I was excited to work with them on my own collection. I am also a big believer that collaborations are important to remaining fresh and relevant in the fast-moving world of fashion!" - Gurung

2013 People's Choice Awards: Best Dressed

I may have left almost all my possessions back home when I moved to NYC but I gained one thing that I never had in Tallahassee: CABLE!! I have been making the most of having cable back in my life and the fact that my current nesting spot aka bed is my cousin's couch where the television is oh so conveniently sitting right across from has made it very easy. While it might not be the best thing for me productivity-wise (HOW did I watch FIVE straight hours of Millionaire Matchmaker??! I hate reality TV!), it does have its perks. One of which is being able to watch award shows in real-time instead of having to stalk Twitter. Plus, it's just not the same having to look at red carpet photos online rather than judging them immediately as they come on screen.. although I have to admit whenever Ian Somerhalder or Matt Bomer was on screen not even the most gorgeous Monique Lhulier gown could take my eyes off them. Ahem, okay, getting off topic, on to my usual Best Dressed list...

Taylor Swift - Ralph Lauren - What is there to say? Stunning, as usual. Harry who?

Rachel Leigh Cook - I'm such a sucker for flowy chiffon gowns in pretty colors.

Ashley Rickards - I Don't know who she is, but just look at that detailed beading!

Kaley Cuoco - Christian Siriano - The first of several amazing dresses she wore throughout the night!

Julianne Hough - Tony Ward couture - Love the ombre and the blue really brings out her eyes!

Ellen Pompeo - So classic, simple, and chic!

Who killed it on the red carpet last night?

Heart Jewellery Plate - £3 - in sale
Love necklace - £10
Heart Hole Puncher - £4
Blog inc Book - £7 in sale

I hope you all had a lovely Christmas/New year! I've spent the majority of my time ill in bed, I just can't seem to shift this cold! During this time, I've been browsing some lovely new blogs, keeping up to date on twitter and catching up on Vlogmas videos, thank goodness for social media!

I saw this gorgeous necklace on Kim from Love Cloth's blog (one of the amazing new blogs I've discovered recently). Luckily they still had it available online so I thought I would treat myself and buy a few bits from the sales! I think I got some quite good bargains, the heart plate is actually bigger than I thought it would be and perfect for storing my everyday jewellery. Good for £3! I'm not quite sure of my reasoning behind buying this heart hole punch, its just so cute and I'm sure Pinterest can help me come up with some good uses for it! Please feel free to leave your Pinterest links below, I'm addicted to it at the moment! Mine is missophie7  :)

Finally I bought the Blog Inc book, I'm always looking for ways to improve my blog and this seems like a really interesting read!
